We See Em - Macc Mello (Brodinski remix)

Here's a little taster for Macc Mello's forthcoming single 'We See Em/G's' - an exclusive remix by Brodinski and maybe the first time anyone has ever tried to mix Screwed n' Chopped and minimal house.

MKNG FRNDZ

You can pretty much guess what MKNG FRNDZ sound like just by the way they spell their name. Yup, they’re another one in the seemingly endless line of awesome Brooklyn bands who cite Missy Elliott, Trick Daddy and Three 6 Mafia as influences, but you know secretly they grew up up on the first few Gossip albums, liking ‘Decapatcon’ by Le Tigre before the DFA remix and working in some really cool bar where everybody in the city high fives them when they come in for a beer.

Also our good friends over at Club Motherfucker are putting out their debut UK single soon, so all in all this is a serious no brainer for us to be liking them.

Check out their My Space.

'HEADLOCK' - ESSER (VIDEO)

We've known Ben Esser since he was the drummer in the now-defunct Ladyfuzz, and now he's gone solo and we love this new video for his forthcoming single 'Headlock' because:

a) We love Ben and this track is rad.

b) Our buddy Aslan is in the video as the Jamaican record selector.

'OH, HEY MOM!' - A GRAVE WITH NO NAME

Here's a track I made in my bedroom. I think I was trying to sound like early Royal Trux mixed with Ciccone Youth or something, but it ended up sounding nothing like either.

Download: - 'Oh, Hey Mom!' - A Grave With No Name

P.S. I'm playing my first ever A Grave With No Name live show on Friday at the awesome NO PAIN IN POP night.

Here's the flyer for the show:

LILLICA LIBERTINE ON RADIO ONE

Lillica Libertine performed a live session at Maida Vale for Huw Stephen's Radio One show last night which you can listen to right here (skip forward to 1hr 17 mins on the player - or just listen from the beginning, whatever gets your jones).
Although he's pretty much the best producer in the world, Laurence really needs to re-up his organisation skills - he phoned me about 10 minutes before he was meant to be there asking me what the address was and how he should get there.
Also, I've probably told you this before, but he ordered 20 pieces of fried chicken with four sides of fries last time he stayed over my house.

A MILLI (NE YO FREESTYLE)

Despite having a little bit of a smarmy face, I love the shit out of Ne-Yo for the following reasons:

1) 'Closer' is my favourite jam of the year.

2) Now that Usher is fully shit, he's taken the opportunity to fill the void and be the not-shit Usher.

3) He looks a little bit like D'angelo from The Wire.

4)

Mad love to Aslan for the tip-off.

'I WAS A MAN' - JAPE (TAPEDECK REMIX)

We did a remix of Jape's single 'I Was a Man which you can have a listen to on our My Space here.

It's influenced by this:

PLAYED OUT.

Admittedly I'm a touch bitter because they never suited me in the slightest, but can EVERYONE, and I pretty much mean EVERYONE give the wayfarers a rest - especially the brightly coloured ones please.

FERRY, YOU'RE THE BEST.

STYLE NOIR

If you like reading about fashion, then you could do a whole lot worse than hanging out over at Style Noir has been started up by Meal Deal artist Lillica Libertine and his friend James. daily updates, features, photos of pretty people and all the things you want from a really good fashion website.

We played their launch party a while back along with our buddies Lillica Libertine, Food Soundsystem and Tomb Crew and I felt really under-dressed wearing denim shorts and a Meat Puppets t-shirt.

EAT SKULL

Eat Skull are ones of those bands like Psychedelic Horseshit and Times New Viking who are obviously really into the early-90's Sebadoh stuff that Lou Barlow recorded after being chucked out of Dinosaur Jr, when he was a really bitter shithead who smoked way too many bongs .

Such a strong look.

Go to their My Space and buy their album 'Sick to Death' before Pitchfork give it an 8.2 or something.
