A GRAVE WITH NO NAME

A Grave With No Name is a solo project that I've been working on for a few years now and is the product of me recording music in my bedroom with a variety of shitty drum machines and dusty guitars. At first I only uploaded the tracks to the A Grave With No Name My Space so that I'd stop adding parts to them as I'd been working on some of them intermittently for the best part of a year.

I'm in the process of recording some more music now, so it'll surface in some form or another soon.

peace

NO MATTER HOW MUCH I READ XXL MAGAZINE, I STILL CAN'T GET A TAN

This is a track which I made in about an hour around Christmas time. I had a real studio buzz on because I'd been recording Marvellous Macc Mello's mixtape at my studio all weekend. I just sampled any rap CD which was lying within arm's reach at the time I made it. I can certianly remember that I sampled a track off an old Lox album, I think there's some Ice Cube in there too.. It used to be called 'If You Think My Concentration Span is Short You Should See the Size of My Father', but I thought 'No Matter How Much I Read XXL, I Still Can't Get a Tan' suited it better.

Anyway, if you like distortion, gabba and rap, then click on the link below to download it for free.

HOLY FUCK (TAPEDECK REMIX)

Here's a remix I did of Holy Fuck's 'The Lovely Allen'. I'd been listening to alot of the Boredoms' Super Roots E.P.s when I made it, so it's more of a headphones jam than a dancefloor one.

Anyway, I think they went with the No Age remix for the format in the end (which is really cool btw), so I thought I'd post this up for download on here.

After a few months of trying to keep his identity under-wraps A1 Bassline has stepped-out of the shadows and fessed-up to being Christian Shank aka one half of screamo/toystep/electro duo Partyshank.

The cool news is that we're pretty fucking stoked to be releasing A1 Bassline's 'Girl Thing' E.P. next month on Meal Deal, but in the meantime, here's a mix he did featuring some exclusives of his own interspersed between the likes of DJ Q, D'Explicit, Detboi and Chris Brown, before rather cooly ending with The Jesus and Mary Chain's 'Just Like Honey'.

A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS ON VICE TV

OK. Here's an interview that A Place to Bury Strangers did with Vice TV. They managed to get Jono the bassist's name wrong, but it's a pretty interesting interview anyway; covering the band's influences, Death by Audio and making effects pedals. You know, all the stuff that should be covered in interviews.

TAPEDECK VICE INTERVIEW

You can read an interview I did for Vice Belgium right here. It's actually about Belgium too, and you can see me pictured with a Belgian beer and a Belgian-to-English dictionary. Any questions you want answering about Belgium, you just come to me OK?

MANTAPOOK

Anupa Madawela aka Mantapook is self-professed "second coolest Asian man in rock". He's probably right in saying: "Kim Thayil from Soundgarden is cooler and a better guitarist than me (he's 100th best guitarist in rock according to Rolling Stone magazine), but I'm cooler and a better guitarist than the singer from My Vitriol and that guy from Cornershop".

After covering Pearl Jam's 'Alive' in the vein of 'Locust Abortion Technician'-era Butthole Surfers (if they only had a Bontempi-organ and a Random Tone Generator at their disposal), Mantapook uploaded a few tracks to his My Space which are pretty much some of this best shit I've heard all year. I'm kind of biased though, because I like music which sounds like a really, really heartbroken Dave Pajo backed by the world's oldest drum machine.

HOX TO DOT

Hi, tapedeck just got added to the bill for this at the last minute. We're playing in the Old Blue Last at about 11pm along with The Death Set.

Last time I saw Pete from The Death Set he was standing outside my bathroom waiting to be sick and was unable to read his watch when I asked him the time. Sorry about that Pete.

FERRY GOUW

Not only is Ferry Gouw in our favourite band Semifinalists, but he's also a wicked video director (check out this one he did for his good buddy Dev Hynes aka Lightspeed Champion) and the hottest illustrator around right now. Jealousy would usually lead me to hate him if he didn't happen to be one of the nicest people I've ever met.

Ferry has also designed all the Meal Deal front covers and t-shirts for us, but asides from this, he's also done work for people like Mystery Jets and flyers for his friends' club-nights like White Heat.

Check out more of his work over at his website which unsurpsingly is awesome.

P.S. If you don't buy the new Semifinalists album due out on 16th June, you are a doofus and no friend of anyone's.

DIRTY PROJECTORS @ DEATH BY AUDIO

When he isn't busy being in the loudest band in the World (they used to just be the loudest band in New York, but they got louder) there's nothing more our good buddy Ollie Ackermann from A Place to Bury Strangers likes to do than custom build really fucking cool guitar pedals with names likes 'Total Sonic Annhilation' for bands like Lightning Bolt, Nine Inch Nails and TV on the Radio.

He does this all from his HQ Death By Audio where after hours he invites round a few friends for a couple cans, some hash and a jam session. It's probably pretty cool when those friends are Dirty Projectors. The closest I've ever got to this was when I saw Pink! drinking a latté in the canteen at my day-job.

TAPEDECK/A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS AT ATP PHOTOS.

We went down to ATP last weekend with A Place to Bury Strangers and our friends Simon and Anupa. Although I managed to see Deerhunter, Dirty Projectors, Black Lips, and a bit of Pissed Jeans, alot of the weekend was spent just hanging outside in the absolutely banging weather. Here's some photos that our buddy Anupa took.
