'SHADE' - LILLICA LIBERTINE

I love experimental music and everything, but sometimes you know, it just doesn’t make you feel like you’re rushing on four tonnes of ecstasy. Therefore it’s great to have Lillica Libertine back to serve us up a Throbbing Gristle meets Modeselektor sandwich, with its disco industrial clatter finely tuned into a straight up commandment to lose your shit seriously, seriously hard.

'Bricolage' - Hotline

This new Hotline track ‘Bricolage’ literally sounds as though is being sucked back-and-forth through a time portal between 1986 and 3045 where gay clubs that play really cool house music made by black people still exist. That’s just what happens when the best producer in the world gets a hard-on for Acid Traxx I guess.

Laurence and Ronika are going to be taking their Hotline project into the live arena this month, so keep your eyes out for that.

HOTLINE

Since his tour of Australia, mad amounts of remixes from everyone from A Place to Bury Strangers to, um, Snow Patrol (get that money kid), our boy Laurence ‘Lillica Libertine’ Matthew Blake has embarked on a new project with singer Ronika called Hotline bringing to mind the sounds of the early-90’s house beamed through his own fucking weird psychedelia. I’ve had the privilege to hear some original material from these guys (actually, so can you if you click the link above to their My Space), and let me just say that Hercules & Love Affair a’int got shit on these guys, but here’s an amazing Hotline remix of their track ‘Blind’ anyway which morphs from Studio 54 to Detroit to theyear 2024 and back again in under 7 minutes. Enjoy.

'COMMUNICATION' - LILLICA LIBERTINE

Jeez – what a day. More new Meal Deal music for you. In preparation for his forthcoming Australian tour, Lillica Libertine has offered up a new track ‘Communication’ for download. If his tracks keep on getting this complex, I’m pretty sure that he’s going to crack God’s DNA code to the universe or something like that.

LILLICA LIBERTINE ON RADIO ONE

Lillica Libertine performed a live session at Maida Vale for Huw Stephen's Radio One show last night which you can listen to right here (skip forward to 1hr 17 mins on the player - or just listen from the beginning, whatever gets your jones).
Although he's pretty much the best producer in the world, Laurence really needs to re-up his organisation skills - he phoned me about 10 minutes before he was meant to be there asking me what the address was and how he should get there.
Also, I've probably told you this before, but he ordered 20 pieces of fried chicken with four sides of fries last time he stayed over my house.

STYLE NOIR

If you like reading about fashion, then you could do a whole lot worse than hanging out over at Style Noir has been started up by Meal Deal artist Lillica Libertine and his friend James. daily updates, features, photos of pretty people and all the things you want from a really good fashion website.

We played their launch party a while back along with our buddies Lillica Libertine, Food Soundsystem and Tomb Crew and I felt really under-dressed wearing denim shorts and a Meat Puppets t-shirt.

NEW LILLICA LIBERTINE!!!

Our boy Lillica Libertine is really tearing it up right now. Along with being booked for Glastonbury, doing a prime-time Radio One session and being everywhere from NME to Mixmag, he has time to make really amazing tracks which single-handedly introduce slap-bass into the world of weirdly complex electro music.
